So they meet at a charity event. Lexa is brooding, of course, but in attendance. She’s supportive of the cause, not the fact that she has to spend her Saturday night schmoozing old rich white dudes. Clarke is there to auction off her art, with a gin and tonic in her hand, the only reason she volunteered.
Their first interaction is wanting glances hidden behind cocky words. Lexa’s eyes darting between art and artist, nary a care if she’s caught. She’s older, more refined in her desires. Knows that people slip through fingers faster than sand. But Christ. It’s not like she can stop herself. Simple pleasures. That’s what she’ll say later. She knows what she wants, takes what she likes.
Clarke is subtler with her interest. She could easily fall, can see the edge coming into view rapidly. Though, perhaps for the better, she’ll push against the urge. She’ll simper and lean closer but doesn’t want to be the girl that warms her bed for one night. And maybe when she wakes up, alone, the next morning, and googles the beautiful woman, she’ll kick herself. But maybe that’s also when the chase begins.
Because Lexa gets what she wants. And she wants Clarke.
