I have been planning to do this long time ago but I wanted
to wait until I’m sure about my opinions and the way they were
shaped and changed. Let me tell you one thing first, I’m not doing this to look
for fights. I’m not doing this to argue or change some people’s thoughts or
anything. I’m doing this because I just wanted to get this out of my chest. I needed
to do this badly for the sake of my health.
I want to talk about Delphine Cormier. When I started
watching Orphan Black, Delphine wasn’t my favorite character. The thing that
made me love Delphine was the way she became so fond of Cosima. It was the way
she started showing her love, the way she cares about Cosima. We all
know that it wasn’t her intention at all. I believe that was the thing that
made me love her even more. She was a scientist who were playing for the other
side. She was also a woman who never thought of bisexuality before. Evelyne
once said that she believes it all happened automatically and I believe she is
right. Who can blame her for falling for Cosima? But how could she make Cosima
believe she was on her side now? I believe most of us wanted to believe
Delphine. We wanted Cosima to forgive her for what she did. Even after the first
season was over, I was still scared there would be a trick. A trick that made us
believe Delphine is trustable even when she was still playing for two different
sides. “Be careful playing for the other team, Delphine” remember? Yeah, but
you know what? Delphine knew the danger all along. Delphine, in my eyes, is the
most clever person on this show. (Or should I say, she used to be one? I will
come to that too.) Delphine knew she fell for Cosima and she was already sure
of her feelings. She knew what she wanted to do which is to save Cosima first. Delphine
knew Cosima could very well end up like the other clones who died. When she saw
the danger for Cosima, evey single one of her actions were to save her life first.
Can you even imagine being her for a second? Can you see the danger of this?
Cosima knew Delphine was her monitor since the beginning but she went for it anyway. But Delphine chose the
worst time, worst place and worst person to fall in love with and she didn’t
ask for any of this. She didn’t ask DYAD to give her a clone so she could
monitor and fall in love at the same time. Yet she accepted to sacrifice her
life for this woman she loves. I’m not going to summarize all of this 2.5
seasons for y’all but my point is, what did she get? What was Delphine’s
perfect prize for this? Someone who is willing to save her life? No. Or someone
who takes care of her? No. What about someone who appreciates her? No, not a
single fucking one of the characters on the show. Not even her girlfriend. She
accepted this woman, Cosima, with all her crap. By crap I mean all the trouble
she brings with her. Like her health issues especially. Plus, let me be honest,
Cosima was treating her like shit. Imagine holding your girlfriend’s hands,
looking at her eyes lovingly, whispering “je t’aime” then she looks at you and
says “if you betray us again, I have enough dirt on you to destroy
your career. Oh but yeah, I love you too”. The thing is that I never
understood this whole thing about Delphine betraying Cosima except the things
she did at the beginning. Forgive me but y’all would fucking sell your souls to
satan to have a girlfriend in your lives who is ready to sacrifice her
everything for you. But no, Cosima was always ready to yell at her, get mad at
her, scream “GET OUT!” in her face. Cosima never trusted Delphine. She knew she
wouldn’t trust her since the beginning but she still wanted to be in this
relationship. It was never like this with Delphine. The thing people (and
Cosima) don’t understand is that Delphine never wanted to do the right thing they thought it would be because the right thing for her meant Cosima’s life and her well being. People think Cosima always listens to her heart than her brain but do you think
Delphine is not? Look closer to the way Delphine treats Cosima. She was never
ever ashamed of anything. Do you remember the way she was looking at her when
they were with Leekie? Do you remember how she kissed Cosima in front of Scott?
Do you remember how she kissed her again at the fucking DYAD event?? (Sarah but
well, who cares, Sarah thinks Delphine is the best kisser anyway eh?). But then
she did even more, she proudly declered Rachel that if something happens to her
girlfriend it’s gonna change everything. You see, I’m just so sick of everything
that tries to justify Cosima so I had to justify my favorite character too. I’m
so bored of the fact that Cosima (or all of the clones) can do nothing wrong.
Just because people love the clones they think everything they do is alright
and if they do something wrong they are just “poor little babies that need to
be saved” but then you know what? SOMEONE DID SAVE THEM. SOMEONE DID SAVE ALL
OF YOUR FAVORITE CLONES BUT WHAT DID YOU GIVE HER? Cosima forced Delphine to
keep her promise and she did her best to keep it. Then Delphine realized doing
both, dating Cosima and saving all of her sisters, is not something clever and
too easy to do. Cosima knew why Delphine broke up with her because Delphine was
only trying to do what she asked for. After all this things she did for all of
them, everyone was still seeing her as an enemy. She was always an outsider.
Remember that annoying look on Felix’s face everytime she sees Delphine? It’s
just the proof that whatever Delphine does, it will never be enough. It won’t
be enough for Cosima, it won’t be enough for Sarah or Felix or anyone. People
only expect her to play for their side and do whatever the hell they want but
they never thank her for anything. No one ever appreciates Delphine Cormier.
They only want her to offer things but they never offer her anything for her
own good. Funny that “straight hair, doesn’t care” thing. She has always been
the one who cares about everything. The things she did to Rachel on 3x01… I
didn’t like it but you know what? That was something only a person who is madly
in love would do. She did warn her it would be personal and she wouldn’t let
anyone hurt her girlfriend, after all, that’s what she lives for now. But it’s still not enough. It’s about Delphine totally. I bet the reactions people showed when Felix did the same thing to Rachel was not the same at all. Delphine was a bitch when she did it but Felix was a poor man who only wants to save his sister.
Then it just killed me how hard she hugged Cosima. It looked
like it was the last time she was doing it and it was giving her all the pain.
I’m not saying Cosima wasn’t sad. It was obvious and I could see it in her eyes
she was about to cry saying “I love you”. I was thinking, that’s why I loved
them together. They love each other so much that one of them is crying, finally
not really ashamed of giving her a proper “I love you” because she is losing
her girlfriend and the other is trying hard to keep it together, trying to stay
strong, sacrificing her relationship to save her life. I was a Cophine shipper
and I knew we needed this. I was okay with this. But then something else
happened and there are, for me, 2 sides of this. One side is about Ebro&OB
which I don’t want to talk about on Tumblr, and second is about how poorly this
season is written for Cosima and her love interest Shay. I never knew it could
be that bad and if I knew I wouldn’t be in this at all. I barely stomach
Cosima&Shay’s scenes. It’s like this wasn’t the girl who said “my sexuality
is not the only interesting thing about me” isn’t it? Because this season, on
Cosima’s side, the only thing they showed us was her sexuality. But why is this
happening? What is the thing most of the people in this fandom don’t want to see?
I knew they wanted to give us some drama about Cophine. I
believe almost all of you will agree with me on this, Cophine is (used to be)
the best couple on the show and it’s one of the reasons some of us started
watching OB. In the beginning of the season GM was talking about how they
needed to break things to make them understand the value of each other but the
thing is that, they didn’t break things. They completely ruined it. I see some
people say Cosima is a mature woman and she can do whatever she wants. Well I
agree with it too. But the things she is doing are only showing how immature
she actually is. I can say I’m not a Cophine shipper anymore. Why would I be though?
Cosima Niehaus doesn’t deserve Delphine Cormier. It’s simple as that. I dont
want to talk about Shay, I don’t think she is worthy of it because she is
basically nothing but a sex partner. I don’t see in what way she is there to
heal Cosima. With sex for 10 hours straight? Let me tell you this, this is
nothing but a pathetic way to attract people to OB. Personally, I love Ksenia
Solo so there is no point in talking about her but the character she plays has
no point at all (unless there will be something in the last 3 episodes and I
doubt that). People only think about this in one way. When it comes to Cosima
she is mature, she can do what she wants, she is only forgetting her troubles,
she needs happiness in her life. Imagine it’s Delphine who is sleeping with
someone everyday. Imagine it’s Delphine who gives 0 fuck about Cosima even when
Cosima is doing everything to be sure she is okay. What would people think? The
ugly part of this is that the writers turned this into a lesbian porn. That’s
probably the lowest level they can be on. The reason they chose Ksenia was that
she already had too many queer fans with her so too many people were already
ready to ship them. They also didn’t choose someone else because Ksenia is a
beautiful, gorgeous woman and they wanted someone to compete with Delphine. Did
you even realize how hard they have been promoting her? They NEVER did this for
Ebro/Delphine. They only wanted to create drama and a fandom war. They even
used a Cophine quote for Cosima&Shay. As a viewer, I have never seen
anything more disrespectful in my life. Now I can see that they never cared
about our (Cophine fans) opinions. It was that easy for them to ruin this. They
just wanted to turn this into a lesbian drama. While they are trying to show
Cosima’s sex scenes and how happy she is, they are also making Delphine become
a bitch, a stalker, a crazy ex. That’s why I don’t like OB anymore. The only
reason I’m here is because I love Ebro so much to leave. Delphine is now so pathetic that she goes to Cosima’s new
girlfriend’s house to ask for a urine sample. I just want to say that both
Delphine Cormier and Evelyne Brochu deserve better than this. I’m starting to
think Delphine would be better off dead. They got their queer fans from Lost Girl with Ksenia, they
already have people who will be on Cosima’s side whatever she does, for this
people it’s also too easy to blame Delphine and they always look for something
to blame her for even when there is none or Delphine had no choice except doing
it. And they want people to think Delphine is an ex who has no chill. People
only want 2 women having sex on screen. It doesn’t matter who they are, it’s
just their favorite character naked with a woman in bed. It couldn’t have been
worse than this. I’m honestly so sad I waited almost a year for this. I don’t
know what’s going to happen in the last 3 episodes but the more I watch OB the
more I don’t want Cophine to be together. But even though I don’t want to accept this I know there is still that little thing
in my heart that wants them to be together just to see Delphine happy, that’s
it. They are not gonna show us their happiness more than like 2 mins anyway but still. I’m almost
pretty sure something bad is going to happen to Delphine in the season
finale so they can also have an excuse for the lack of Ebro (because of XCompany)
in S4 if Delphine will be okay for the next season . But really, they couldn’t have done a better job if
they wanted their show to be that cheap. Orphan Black is now far from being my
favorite show.
