As soon as we found each other again in the basement lounge after the gig::

Papa D to Steph: So I heard your friend showed up at the London gig
Steph: *with a smirk* Don't even say his fucking name.
Papa D: Well Cass woke up at like 1 in the afternoon and was freaking out and flailing around the house as she was telling me about Jimmy.
Steph points to me: No way...YOU!
I point back to Papa D: NO IT WAS HIM. I was to busy gathering all my thoughts together after I woke up that. I was in a slight haze all afternoon.

*everyone cracked up with that*

Papa D changes subject: So I guess he must have just came back from doing the 'unspeakable' in Thailand. (;
Steph: Yeah well obviously.
Megan: You know we all knew he was there...everyone but Steph. But when she found out she was in tears.

Lez Zeppelin @ Center For The Arts Natick

Natick MA- June 29th 2013

Every time I see my girls..their shows get better and better. Set list was incredible along with the mix. They had a great sound guy. Great night. They were on fire! Megan said this show was the ‘Lets play all of Megan’s favorites tonight’ show & indeed it was. The biggest highlight was Dazed & Confused into How Many More Times. Best, sexiest version ever. It was so hot and it was really amazing. Going to California, Battle Of Evermore. And Leesa’s Moby Dick into Kashmir is always delightful. Always a pleasure to watch my idol & mentor up close. The best of the best right here folks. These are just 10 out of 44 of the best photos Papa D. & I took.

- I side note. Steph was actually playing her Epiphone EDS-1275 last night. She has her Gibson one but didn’t bring it on the road. She bought that Epiphone at the Gibson Showroom in London last week.

**All credit goes to my dad aka ‘Papa D.’ who took the fab photos.**

The Battle of Evermore || Led Zeppelin

  • Robert Plant wrote the words to this acoustic song after reading a book on Scottish history. The lyrics are about the everlasting battle between night and day, which can also be interpreted as the battle between good and evil.
  • This is the only song Zeppelin ever recorded with a guest vocalist. Robert Plant felt he needed another voice to tell the story that plays out in the song, so Sandy Denny from Fairport Convention was brought in. Her vocals represent the people as the town crier, while Plant’s voice is the narrator. Fairport Convention was a British folk group Zeppelin shared a bill with in 1970.
  • Sandy Denny was given a symbol on the album sleeve - 3 pyramids - to thank her. The 4 members of Led Zeppelin each designed their own symbols for the album. Denny died in 1978 from a brain hemorrhage resulting from a fall down the stairs.
  • Sound engineer Andy Johns said of the recording: “The band was sitting next to the chimney in Headley, drinking tea, when Jimmy grabbed a mandolin and started playing. I gave him a microphone and stuck a Gibson echo on his mandolin. Jimmy had brought this stuff before and had asked me to take a look at it. Suddenly Robert started singing and this amazing track was born from nowhere."
  • Led Zeppelin rarely played this live, but when they did, John Paul Jones sang Sandy Denny’s part.
